Michael Haman comes to Winchester from his most recent post as News Director for the 6-station Cumulus Broadcasting complex in Macon, Georgia. He began his professional career as a newspaper reporter for the Tifton News Examiner in 1965, and, later attended college at LACC and USC while working and studying as an actor in Hollywood during an 8-year period in his 20’s.
Mr. Haman’s broadcast career began in 1973 as a news anchor for tiny WMES in Ashburn, Georgia, but he quickly became a music personality and lists over 20 stations on his resume including WMZQ/Washington D.C. and WKBW/Buffalo. Finally settling in Colorado as morning personality and Program Director of KIKX FM, Mr. Haman became, first, GM of the station and, later, Vice President/programming for the San Francisco based company that acquired KIKX prior to his retirement from broadcasting in the late 90’s.
Michael and Wendy Konneker were married in Naples, Florida in 1977 and have one son, Jonathan, who is a summa cum laude graduate of The University of Colorado. They divorced after 23-years together, and Mr. Haman retired to his home on the St. John’s River in Jacksonville, Florida. During retirement, he taught commercial and dramatic acting, served as President of Player’s Magazine, wrote several novels he did not submit for publication and served as host of The Justice Coalition, a Jacksonville-based radio program. He also remarried, but he and Edith were together only a couple years before divorce.
In 2005, Mr. Haman returned to broadcasting full-time in the capacity of news writer, director and morning anchor.
